11.22 suddenly doesn't record audio - RESOLVED

Was ready to record a vocal I get no signal going into DP. Everything else works properly (mic/mic pre, Apollo Twin, UA console)signals are all normal, Bundle assignments normal, but DP shows nothing on meter bridge. Suddenly None of my projects done in DP11 record audio. MIDI/VIs all normal. I've been using DP11 for months no issues with audio.
Here's where it gets weird, DP10.1 is fine. when I bring up files from it's era '19-'21 I can record audio.
However if I "Save a copy of DP11 as" a DP10.1 and try to open in DP10, it crashes.
I have upgraded to 11.3 still not able to record audio.
Question; Should I remove DP11 and download a new copy? Won't I be starting from scratch (Plugin checks etc.).
Also I noticed my DP11 gets hung up on VST/VST3 upon launch, sometimes crashing, nostly taking a long time. I don't use VST and have them ALL unchecked in Prefs.
Any suggestions appreciated...

This might be the frequent issue of going into privacy and security and enabling the microphone for digital performer. Just a shot in the dark.

Further update, as of this morning DP10.13 has now stopped recording audio!!! As of last night I was doing backup vocals now it's just like DP11. Very frustrated...everything else (UA Apollo Twin & mic) works normally. MIDI records, Bundles are set correctly, plugins function,
DP seems to have lost the connection between UA console and audio tracks. It also crashes frequently upon Launch and Quitting. Lately it takes 2-4 launches on both DP11 & 10 before one of them fully loads...after that both versions launch much more smoothly as though something has been cleared away or the program has learned something.
I don't know wtf is going on. Nothing I do fixes the no-audio-record problem.
I've been doing this for a long long time and have never come across this kind of bug.
I don't remember what's involved in starting from scratch with a new version, I do think I have to physically remove ALL VST files! I haven't had to do this level of repair since the days of throwing out all MOTU prefs.
I need help!

Further investigating- I launched UA Luna, it cannot record audio either. Apollo console is built in so I could hear the mic and see the preamp light up, but no signal gets recorded. So it seems it's global? I'm stumped this happened overnight.

Memory is fine less than 50% used. Kinda like my brain power right now.

You've narrowed the issue down to the interface, it's audio drivers and settings. I'd check the settings in your interface's control panels, re-install the UA drivers and hit up UA or a UA HW forum if you're still flummoxed.

This was exactly the cause!!! James, I couldn't wrap my head around "microphone" meaning ANY & ALL microphone inputs!
I thought it referred to the Mac built in mic. My thought process becomes very narrow when I'm in a anxious state, such as confusion.
So happy to know this is a new Apple OS thing and not something worse. People should know this, or am I the last to know.

It seems “microphone” as far as macOS is concerned today pretty much means audio hardware of any kind. This is a very common issue and I ran into it when I first was getting my Mac Studio dialed in. Glad it’s sorted.
