Changing power source on 828es may fix audio Issues.

Post by CharlzS »

I changed the power source for my 828es from directly plugged into UPS (voltage regulated) to plugged into power strip attached to the UPS. Bad move - static. bit crushed - sounds like Vinyl with maximum damage. Restarted computer and 828es, same. Would not have thought that power would cause this - sounded like a sync issue. Anywho, went back to plugged into UPS and all good. Just a heads-up that the 828es (and possibly other AVB gear) is incredibly sensitive to power source.

Did the strip have surge suppression? Could be old, tired MOVs...

Yes surge suppressor and noise filter. If I get motivated, I'll try a different strip but nothing else appears to be affected (MTP-AV, dbx 160, Distressor and ada8200).
