v9.52 on Sonoma 14.2.1: App menus not opening on direct click?

Post by mwilloam »

On M1 MBP 16", software details in title. Noticed the app menu(the os level bar): File, Edit, View, Region, Etc... will not open on click. They will however open if you first click on the Digital Performer(or Apple) menu and mouse move down. Not an efficient long term workaround. Can anyone else confirm if they see the same with DP 9.52 or other? Perhaps specific to < 10 or 11.

Separate issue, but also seem to be losing the app level consolidated window tabs intermittently. Again, maybe a v9.x issue on Sonoma.

v9.52 on Sonoma 14.2.1: App menus not opening on direct click?

Post by James Steele »

It’s really a Sonoma issue. DP 9.52 was released long before Sonoma was released. Issues like this appeared with Sonoma and it affected DP 11 until MOTU released DP 11.23 as a hot fix to address that issue. Your version of DP is pretty old predating Apple Silicon and Sonoma by quite a bit. It’s not surprising there are issues. About the only thing you can do here is update to DP11. You’ll get the benefit that it runs natively on Apple Silicon also.

Whoops, I even read the other thread: viewtopic.php?t=73513 but didn't read carefully enough as I thought that was about internal app menus. FWIW, double click doesn't work for in my scenario but, looks like it's 11.23 on up to resolve. Just wanted to confirm before doing so. We can delete this as it's a duplicate. Thanks!

Yeah. Wish I had better news but the whole menus issue seems to have cropped up in Sonoma.

IMO you're always going to have some issues with Mac OS and older plugin and DAW versions. Even a simple security update to Mojave hosed the now discontinued Alchemy VST/AU for me on the old Mac Pro. Best practice if using a version of a DAW two behind or more is to stay on earlier versions of the OS.

In other words it would be fine with DP11, but caveat, if you've waited this long, might as well wait until DP12 is announced. We're almost three years into DP11.
M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.
