MIDI malfunction
I am using an old Yamaha PSR530 home keyboard in the MIDI input of my 828es. When I play notes on the PSR530, the notes continue to sustain. I came across an issue similar to this before. I believe it was a setting in DP, but I can't remember what I changed. Any ideas?

Re: MIDI malfunction
Does your keyboard have built in sounds? It may or may not solve the issue but I'd make sure you have "local off" enabled so your keyboard only plays notes when MIDI is received at the MIDI IN of the keyboard and does not play a sound when the keys are played directly.

Also, check to see if there is a Sustain button, and even just toggle it on & off again, in case there is a #64 CC state that is ON. You can also send a panic (from DP or whatever sequencer) to reverse the state of the sustain switch. Worth a try.

Re: MIDI malfunction
Check the polarity of the sustain pedal. Some default to circuit open when pressed while others default to closed.
I dealt with this last year with a Yamaha keyboard owned by an organist at our church. Although it could be set to match the sustain pedal after being turned on, it reset to the default every time she turned it off. I had a spare Yamaha pedal that was wired same as the keyboard's default and this made the problem go away.

When things like this come up, it’s good to have MIDI Monitor available. It’s solved no end of MIDI mysteries here. If run for the whole session it is like to show that a Sustain On message was sent with no corresponding Sustain Off message.

Re: MIDI malfunction
I actually tried switching from a pad with long release to a piano, which naturally has a short release first, which seemed to solve the issue. Then I suddenly realised I should just turn Local off. Never mind...
