I could be wrong, but my gut tells me most developers are leaning this way. It’s all about audio now.

Yea, even with MIDI 2.0 kind of adding a little buzz, that excitement seems mostly limited to hardware-- like new keyboard controllers. It's probably an exaggeration to call it "excitement", as much as it is an exaggeration to say that new keyboard controllers are implementing MIDI 2.0.

Very few developers seem to be throwing their arms around 2.0. Giel Bremmers is a welcome exception. He's consistently throwing bleeding edge features into MultiTrack Studio-- but not many people know about that DAW. I mean it's not "the big leagues" but it's kind of interesting-- especially on iOS.

For the record, DP is a MIDI powerhouse, boasting both best-in-class AND only-in-class MIDI features. I wish they'd lean into that and continue to maintain/refine/enhance the MIDI side. This thread being one example. I suppose MOTU knows which side their bread is buttered on, and has to direct resources carefully as the market is so competitive now.
M1 MBP; OS 12, FF800, DP 11.3, Kontakt 7, Reaktor 6, PC3K7, K2661S, iPad6, Godin XTSA, Two Ibanez 5 string basses (1 fretted, 1 fretless), FM3, SY-1000, etc.
