Motu 828 mk3 Hybrid (CPU not valid update firmware)

Post by Parkol »

I have an 828mk3 hybrid. The service recently changed the encoders as I was having problems switching on and the display was dim. After the repair there were clicks on Windows 10. The cpu not valid was there before the repair, but did not go anywhere after. On Mac there are no clicks and no problems when working with Logic. But this message and the clicks on Windows are frustrating me. I can't update the firmware, it says it can't see the device on both Mac and Windows, but Cuemix works fine. I would be glad to have your advice, I can't figure out where to look as I don't understand if it's a software or hardware problem.
The card is connected via USB. I have connected it to 2 computers and a laptop, but I have not been able to update the firmware.

Thanks.

I have had the Motu 828mk3 Hybrid since winter 2012.

Power down and disconnect your unit from everything. On restart, the firmware version should flash. If v. 1.01, you are up to date and that isn't the problem.

Mac v1.01 | Nov. 29, 2012
macOS 10.14, macOS 10.13, macOS 10.12, Mac OS X 10.11, Mac OS X 10.10, Mac OS X 10.9, Mac OS X 10.8, Mac OS X 10.7, Mac OS X 10.6

828mk3 Hybrid Firmware

If out of date, you can download it from https://motu.com/en-us/download/

Connect to the Mac and update if needed since that is giving you less grief. Here are the instructions:
828x, 828mk3 Hybrid, 896mk3 Hybrid, UltraLite mk3 Hybrid

Turn off the device.
Disconnect the FireWire (or ThunderBolt) cable from back panel if it is connected.
Connect the device to the computer via USB.
Press and hold the Page knob on the front panel and turn on the device.
Release the Page knob when the bootloader version number appears on the LCD.
Open the firmware updater program and follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.
Otherwise, are your drivers up to date? Download from the same site.

Reset to factory default if necessary—this sometimes does it:
828x / 828mk3 Hybrid / 828mk3 FW:
Press the Param/Setup knob until the LCD screen reads "828X SETUP" (or equivalent). The LCD screen will quickly flash to "LCD CONTRAST". Turn the Param/Setup knob all the way to the right. The LCD screen will read: "Factory Defaults Press [Value]". Push the Value knob. The LCD screen will display "Are you sure? Push [VALUE]". Push the Value knob again to confirm. The LCD screen will read: "Initializing...". The clock LED will flash when reset is complete.
