I just updated to 7.7.0 (naturally skipping the dreaded 7.6.1). This was AFTER I made sure I had an APFS snapshot of my boot volume I could roll back to. Happy to report that 7.7.0 seems to be working okay. Yikes... looking forward to forgetting that whole nightmare of 7.6.1.

Indeed. Although I went back to Komplete Kontrol 2.9.4. I have an S88 Mk2 and not only do I not really need anything in v3, but from what I understand v3 takes away your ability to create/edit tags?

Kontakt 7.7 is out and seems to fix all problems.

FWIW I’m still getting the odd “phantom crash” with the latest version of K7. (K7.7)

I'm out of town, not at my system, but was/is anyone getting crashes like this?
1. DP crashing on opening every time you open a project that includes instances of Kontakt yet the file actually opens, stays open, and works? (I found just okaying it when getting the error message vs reopening the file worked fine)
2. You've opened an instance of Kontakt with a multi, call it K1, with all the properly assigned MIDI tracks and the multi window suddenly disappears, leaving an empty multi, but the instance of Kontakt still appears in the TO window only now has changed to read "Instrument 1" and all of the MIDI channels that read "Kontakt 1-1" etc. now read "Instrument 1-1" etc.?

Bizarre, right? Never seen this before.

BTW: the instance still worked fine once I reloaded the multi but the labelling wouldn't change back to K1. When I tried deleting and re-adding the instance of K I got horrendous routing problems as it seems that K1 still existed, sight unseen, and I now had TWO instances of Kontakt that were K1. Then my DP project file sizes would jump from a normal 5-30MB up to a bloating 120MB. BTW these were MIDI projects with 2-6 instance of Kontakt, a few instances of MODO Bass or Motu bass line, maybe Superior Drum 3. Not huge, not a lot going on.

I have NOT updated to v. 7, but both things happened to me a lot this past month. No. 1 became part of my daily opening up of projects involving Kontakt ritual - cash error, and continuing work. No. 2 happened, but not with the same frequency.

Sorry to be a bit vague, I'm not at my system and I don't know if the NI Kontakt update has corrected these behaviors.

I have the “Crash, but not really” bug Joel reports above happening regularly now. I thought I just started getting it when I added some UAD Native stuff, but maybe it is Kontakt; I run it in most projects. Haven’t moved to kontakt 7.7 as yet. With the positive reports I think I’ll give it a go soon.

Kontakt 7.7 working well here. I’ve have the “crash but not really” issues too. I do think it’s more likely to be linked to UADx, but that’s just my gut. Those plugs have been problematic with DP since they were introduced. Not so much with any other DAWs AFAIK. I have suspected it’s linked to this annoying behavior in which loading a project with a UADx plug causes the UA Connect app to launch. These invasive installer apps that launch and stay open in the background when they aren’t necessary really piss me off to be honest. I wish this would stop. All this “bloatware.”

Adobe is annoying in that regard but only when pushing updates. I’ve had to remove Corel completely from my system to keep their license manager from hanging my system—that was a bit of hell trying to figure out.

Hi HCMarkus. Just as an FYI I don't own any UAD stuff. I return later this week and will update to Kontakt 7.0 and... hope!
