Matt at MOTU just confirmed that they are still able to replicate the "crash but not really" with K 7.7

This is true. The fact that MOTU can replicate it a good sign. I would imagine a fix will be forthcoming in the next update.

Heads up. NI put out Kontakt 7.7.1 today. I posted the changelog in the Plugin Updates topic on this board. Maybe it might help with this. I installed it (but NOT before running Time Machine!!) and so far it seems to be okay. I'll see if the "crash-but-not-really" issue goes away. Still too early to say.
