I can't watch this right now, but sharing this link I saw at VI Control. Apparently this is UNLISTED video and was found online of upcoming Falcon 3. Can't wait to watch later. Honestly, I've always felt like Falcon should have been more of a standard than Kontakt and maybe with NI's issues lately, UVI might close the gap a little?

Wow! Pretty dazzling feature set.
Over the years, I've always kept an eye out for Kontakt alternatives. Mostly because I find that UI so unpleasant. (I'm coming from the Kurzweil world of keymap editing, so I don't mind some tedium, but Kontakt just makes things even less fun, somehow).
Thanks for sharing this!

Exactly. We must be twins separated at birth. I’ve always found Kontakt annoying at best. I use Falcon wherever I can, and look forward to seeing what they came up with for V3.

Good news! Thanx for posting.
IMOE, Kontakt is fine when using a patch *as is*. But building one from scratch (or massive tweaking one) is far better (and clearer) in Falcon. Still some learning curve involved, though.

There's rumor going around now on another site that Falcon 3 will be a FREE update to Falcon 2 owners. The poster claims that they got this info directly from UVI. Honestly, I don't see how this is possible, but fingers crossed. I think Falcon is such a great piece of software, I'd happily pay a reasonable upgrade fee for version 3. I'll say it again... I'd much prefer to work in Falcon over Kontakt most of the time, but so many instruments are only available on Kontakt.
Also, it was implied that UVI might make the formal announcement regarding Falcon 3 on Thursday. We shall see!

I've been fairly happy to use Kontakt as a full featured player for libraries. But I just never felt like investing the time and pain to learn it. Some of NI's movements, while often understandable from a business perspective, haven't inspired much confidence.
I'll still upgrade to Kontakt 7 if it ever goes on sale.
Falcon-- if it can map samples in a fairly painless way-- will be a no brainer, even at $350.
Does it ever go on sale?

Not sure, but I know that for years, UVI sort of did a "silent" upgrade offer where if you wrote to them and explained that you were a "MachFive refugee" and asked if there was an upgrade path, they'd work out something to accommodate you. That approach might still work.
I know UVI has had some sales lately. Not sure if Falcon has gone on sale or not. I've gotten a few expansions for it, as well as third-party NKS libraries that allow me to use it effectively within Komplete Kontrol. However, still waiting for NI to fix the issues with Komplete Kontrol 3.0.0.

Yes... it's official as far as release on Thursday, Oct. 19. UVI posted over at VI Control:
There will be a live YouTube event on that day. I think THIS might be the URL for that:

Looks like fun. I’ve got a little bit of upgrade money hiding in a corner somewhere.

Really exciting James, good find! I love Falcon.
Someday, Kontakt will be a distant memory for me.. someday.

Now available. Anyone installed Falcon 3 yet?

Just bought Falcon 3.
I also put three libraries ($39 each) in the cart. There's a 2 for 1 deal on libraries, and a $100 voucher, so I got them for zero dollars. I had $22 left over, but there weren't any libraries that made me feel like I wanted to spend to use it up.
Installation had one hitch where it showed 0% progress until I randomly clicked other options.
All installed now. Very much looking forward to taking it out for a spin around the neighborhood.

Well I had finished downloading the sounds installer and installed that, but was just about to start the installer for the plugin and app itself and I decided I better run Time Machine so I would have a good APFS snapshot to retreat to should something go wrong. Damned if UVI Portal doesn't ERASE the installer if you quit it!!! Couldn't find it anywhere and now after the Time Machine backup I'll have to download it all over again at a snail's pace since demand is so high right now! ARGH!!!

I can't really say either is super clear and easy to work with, but to be fair both Kontakt and Falcon are super samplers with massive amounts of synthesis engines and capabilities added in. It's guaranteed to get messy with the feature sets these things have. Falcon might have a larger feature set this point.
One thing though, Falcon does have better GUI's for it's FX and the generally sound better than Kontakts.
Kontakt is multi core capable though, and Falcon is not. IMO they are both necessary, but I am more likely to use Falcon as a Sampler rather than a playback workstation like I do with Kontakt.
