Have you checked your MIDI patch thru settings? Depending on how you monitor while you're playing it can affect timing. Read the pop up description when you hover over "Sync recorded MIDI to patch thru."

Or maybe you've already done this?

Phil, that’s interesting, let me check that out, I’m not at home now, but I’ll look into that and report back to the thread, much appreciated!

OK I checked out that option in Settings, it was checked, I unchecked it. No difference in latency. Still have it.

However, I think that feature may have been responsible for some weird MIDI event placement anomalies that I have been noticing lately, so I'm unchecking it in hopes that it may resolve those issues.

Thanks to all,
Greg

Eager to get your impressions, Mike. I’ve been on Sonoma 14.1.1 for a bit. I’m not really dealing with big projects lately, but it’s been working well for me. From posts I see online, my impression is that the Apple Silicon Sonoma experience is better than on Intel machines. That only makes sense to me, as the Apple Silicon machines are going to be faster anyway. I think it I were on an Intel machine I’d be less inclined to upgrade unless I had no choice.

I like to think that Apple is still fine tuning the OS for these relatively new processors and so with each iteration they are working out the kinks and improving performance. That’s what I like to THINK anyway!! Haha!

Nice... I saw that. Need to get into my studio and update. However the damn thing is still taken over by lightning equipment and Christmas decorations (see my forum avatar)! Need to get in there tomorrow and do that.

Two things that haven't been fixed in 14.1.2

or

Are they even broken?

1) James mentioned in another thread the annoying thick cursor in Text Edit. I have found it to be system wide for Mac apps or mac processes. Still present in this update.

2) The apple menu is properly populated in space one, but in the other spaces items are missing or the menu is completely blank. Still present in this update.

Are you guys noticing this?

The blue cursor in Text doesn't bother me at all.

I've no idea what you are seeing in the Apple menu — looks fine to me.

Thanks, Mike.

This encouraged me to do a little digging and I found that Finder was assigned to desktop 1. Setting it to All or None solves the problem.

See, even when you didn't have the answer you helped me solve the problem. That's what we love about you!

So, I am, still on Monterey. Everything works. However, I see that most Folks are seeing good response to Sonoma and I am wondering if it makes sense to upgrade the OS to that. All of my plugins seem to now be compatible, but I was wondering if Remote Desktop still works like it did in Monterey? Has that been left alone and still works? I need this for my set-up: where I am planning on using my laptop in a LAN to control DP on my studio machine (via mirroring) in my recording room. It works now in Monterey, I need this to still work in Sonoma. Cannot seem to find much info on this. Any one have any info or news about this?

Thank you, I appreciate it.

About to do that now. The only thing that bugs me about OS updates now is that I can't restore boot disk using APFS snapshot made from a previous OS version. THAT really bugs me. So soon as the new OS is installed and working well, I'll make another Time Machine backup, but I have to realize no boot drive restore from any APFS snapshot file made with 14.1.1.

Unless I am misunderstanding.

I'm happy for you because it bugs the crap outta me! LOL. Maybe it's because I'm on 4K 43" monitor, but when I look at text like this....

insertioncursor.png
insertioncursor.png (21.12 KiB) Viewed 83490 times

...a lot of times I can't quickly see just where the insertion cursor is when it is adjacent to small characters like commas, periods, etc. and in a small font.

Oh well... YMMV.

Unfortunately, there is no setting for the cursor. You do have others that can be changed including window size and default fonts.

Apologies if asked and answered, but is iLok working well with Sonoma? I need it to access certain libraries for UVI Falcon. Rosetta still needed, I assume.

Thanks
