DP 11.22 crash on open after MacOS 13.6 update

Matt got back to me promptly this AM. He said the crash log definitely points a finger at Kontakt 7, but this did not start happening until after the 13.6 update.

Have you run the MacOS 13.5.2 updater from last week? A few bugs were squashed in that.

Have you deleted this yet?
/Users/(account name)/Library/com.motu.MotuAudioSystem/Audio Unit Info Cache 64-bit if you have VSTs and VST3s loaded, delete these, too: VST3 Info Cache v2 and VST Info Cache 64-bit. I removed the 32 bit versions also.

Reboot, relaunch and DP will rebuild those cache files. I had already installed GuitarRig Pro 7 before doing the above. DP hasn't crashed once for me since doing that.

Deleting that cache seems to do the trick! I don't know for sure that it's a cure but the symptom sure went away. Thanks again! I'll report back if the crashes return.

It worked for me. I also went through and deleted old plug-ins that no longer passed verification.

Poring over the crash logs I definitely agree that it is Kontakt 7. Earlier instances of Kontakt don’t seem to be a problem. I have 6, and 7 and can get by, but I’m really annoyed at the moment. I was just beginning to feel my way around K7.

Do you mean 13.5.2? I don't think there's a 13.6.2. I just updated myself to 13.6.0 and checked if there were further updates and it tells me that's the latest. I'm going to try to see if Kontakt 7 gives me issues now. Still trying to decided if I will do Sonoma which is supposed to come out tomorrow.

Seriously, because the tax filing deadline was extended for Californians until 10/15, I have procrastinated and not done my taxes for 2022 and am more fearful that Sonoma might jack up my TurboTax installation than anything else!

You're right. I misread and apologise. I'm still recovering from surgery around my eyes and having trouble reading screens. In addition, I'm spending a lot of time in doctor and hospital waiting rooms (not for myself). Anyway…

After reading the above, I immediately updated to MacOS 13.6. Without running any of my normal routines* I fired up DP 11.22 and opened a few projects. No crashes. I rebooted and tried again, shut down and restarted a few more times. Each time, DP fired up quickly and without issues.

I just checked Native Access and there are 16 updates that weren't there yesterday but Guitar Rig 7 is not among them. I often have to shut down completely and reboot before NI updates will verify in DP. Update: went smoothly, everything verified in DP (and Logic). No crashes.


*My normal routine after an OS update:

1) Reboot again

2) Safe Boot (how now depends on the Mac)

3) If DP is crashing on launch, I start DP with the Shift key held, Quit and restart again. This rebuilds paths between DP and the Shared Resources folder. I often have to do this after plug-in and VI updates. I consider it normal maintenance.

4) If the Mac or any app is still launching slowly, I reset the Launch Services as follows.

1. Open Terminal and run these commands:

5. Restart your Mac

You don't say what that current version is.

Last night. Kontakt 7 was one of the 16 updates in NA. It is now v. 7.6. Kontakt is one of those NI instruments that requires you to shut down your Mac and reboot before DP will verify and load.

Anyway, I opened DP many times after updating to MacOS 13.6 before I ran the NA updater and after. Still haven't crashed — which is amazing. I had given up on DP 10 & 11 starting crash-free till day before yesterday.
