What's going on with DP's metronome click? - RESOLVED

Post by joelfriedman »

Hi, willing to bet it's "pilot error" on my part, but this is weird. I'm just getting back into DP, relearning things, and I recorded a test cue that alternates 5/4 and 6/4 w/out issues. I go 4 bars past the end of the cue and add 4/4 and new tempo q=86 to the conductor track, very basic and simple, and... it's giving me some sort of syncopated "Bo Diddley rhythm!" - 2 dotted q's and then a q. There's no data info there and I've checked the the click and default click and there's nothing selected with that rhythm. It sometimes does the 2 bar count off correctly, as 4 even qs, but then as soon as it starts to record it starts Bo Diddley. I tried shutting down and restarting and the same thing happens. As I said, I'm willing to believe I'm doing something boneheaded, but I haven't run into this before and I can't get a simple q note click. Just tried it again and now even the counting is going Bo. Thoughts?

I'm gonna guess that you accidentally made your click=dotted quarter.

Go to your Conductor Track's event list, and look at that 4/4 meter change. Check to make sure it's click = quarter. Double click on the note value to remove the dot to the right.

Another place you can look is up in the lower right corner of the counter display-- and make sure that one is also set to quarter note.

I'm not sure how that one relates to things when you're tempo is controlled by the conductor.

Post back here and let us know if my suspicion was correct or not. Also whether it was the meter event or the one near the counter.

Hi,

Back from teaching and finally able to boot up DP. stubbsonic, you nailed it. Not sure HOW, but there it was: dotted 1/4. I don't how I both hit the dot and didn't notice it, and not sure why I didn't see it afterwards. I've certainly never done it before, but hey: that's why we have this board! It takes a village... sometimes.

Thank you.
