This thread is worth its weight in gold.

Hmm. That doesn't really hold up, as a phrase for web based content, but hopefully my appreciation is clear.

Soniccouture updates/upgrades

Post by mikehalloran »

I got an email from Soniccouture urging me to purchase an upgrade to Pan Drums II. Ok... I like Pan Drums but couldn't find the upgrade price. Turns out I had purchased through Native Instruments so I emailed Soniccouture support and they replied;

You need to link your NI account with your SC account here:

https://www.soniccouture.com/en/ni-prod ... istration/

It was easy and after I did, I saw a whole page of upgrades. I stuck with the library I wanted to purchase but "tomorrow is another day."

Audio Hijack updated from 4.3.2 to 4.4.0

Post by James Steele »

Just noticed this tonight. Downloaded the updated which is probably a good idea if you're on Sonoma.

Updated in Audio Hijack 4.4.0:
A Powerful New Audio Capture Backend
Audio Hijack now uses a new audio capture backend called Audio Routing Kit, or “ARK” for short. Thanks to ARK, Audio Hijack can be set up on a new Mac in seconds, with no restarts or passwords required.

New “System Audio Access” Permission
The “Permissions” window has been updated, with a new “System Audio Access” permission. This permission enables you to use Audio Hijack to record audio from applications you specify.

Standard User Accounts Welcome
Standard MacOS user accounts can now capture and record audio with Audio Hijack, without needing any help from an Administrator account.

Erroneous Microphone-In-Use Indicators, Begone!
Previously, when Audio Hijack was playing audio to a device that also has input channels, or capturing from any application on MacOS 14.2 and higher, MacOS would erroneously display its orange microphone-in-use indicator. With changes to Audio Hijack’s audio capture backend, that is no longer the case, and we’re very glad about it.

Audio Hijack’s “Application” block now provides a more powerful device-specific capture for complex setups. With the “Limit audio capture” setting in the “Advanced” section, it’s now possible to capture any combination of audio an application is sending, even when it’s playing to multiple devices.

The “System Audio” source, used to capture all audio playing on the Mac, has now been renamed “System-Wide Audio”.

The “Siri” special source has been updated to work as expected on all releases of MacOS 14 (Sonoma).

Audio devices which contain brackets in their name are now displayed correctly throughout Audio Hijack

Accessibility improvements have been made for the “Permissions” window.

Audio Hijack 4.4.0 Is for MacOS 14.4 and Higher
This variant of Audio Hijack supports MacOS 14.4 and higher. On MacOS 11 through 14.3.1, a different variant is automatically used, with no action required on your part.

I have a license so I suppose I should try it—would be nice if Audio Hijack wasn't a complicated waste of time in my work.

OK I'm curious, why is that? I use it for two reasons, to capture audio from any application on my Mac, and to host ARC so I don't have to worry about turning it off when mixing and mastering.

In Audio MIDI Setup set the audio to your audio interface, but do not set system alerts to your interface, In audio Highjack set it up to capture system audio, remove the recoding plugin and put ARC in as a plugin. this way it captures the audio out from DP and runs it through ARC, but when you bounce down, obviously it's not going through ARC.

Caster has been working fine for hosting ARC. For just about anything else, Live Screen Capture from Roxio (included with Toast) has been good—which is surprising as it and Toast still use the long depreciated Soundflower.

Getting Audio Hijack to work the way I need it has been way too fiddly for me when the others are rock solid and predictable. I'll give the latest version a try. We'll see...

Altiverb 8.0.8 Update Out!

Post by James Steele »

Altiverb 8.0.8 Update Out!

I must have missed 8.0.7 as I was still on 8.0.6. Version 8.0.8 was released on April 3. Check the change log below. Also I have the basic "Regular" stereo version, but if you have XL, and last time you installed the IRs was before 8.0.7 you need to download the full installer.
