I don't know if this is just dumb luck, but previously, MacOS was NOT indexing my DP Projects volume which was very frustrating. I'd tried all sorts of recommended remedies. Nothing would work except wiping the volume and Finder copying my projects back onto the volume from a backup. And even then, it was a temporary fix and a day later Spotlight would not find anything on that volume.

So, a minute or two after the 13.4.1 update finished and my machine rebooted, I tried a spotlight search of a DP project. I actually got results and as you can see below, the OS had initiated an indexing (presumably of my DP Projects volume) with no prompting from me whatsoever. I would love it if this is now resolved!!!

I did open a DP project (simple one) and everything seemed to play back okay with no problems.

That was the longest update I have seen in quite awhile. I stopped counting the reboots. I suspect some major tinkering under the hood.

I wonder what else may have been fixed.

Wow... that's interesting, Mike. It did not take very long for me, but might just be due to the faster internal SSD in the Mac Studio? That said, if my Spotlight index for my DP Projects volume holds steady, I will be a happy camper. I really missed having the ability to do a search from within DP's File Open dialog! Fingers crossed!

Hey Mike... not to hijack the thread, but wondering if you know the answer to this:

I know if you have a multiple monitor setup, MacOS gives you the option of having the menu bar on either ONE or ALL of the attached monitors. If I have 4 monitors for example, is there some setting somewhere that would let me have the menu bar on TWO of the FOUR monitors and not all?

13.4 resolved a problem I was having with slow recognition of bluetooth devices at startup, but the problem seems to have resurfaced in 13.4.1. Takes about 5 seconds before I can type in my password with wireless keyboard. Not a big deal, just a minor annoyance.

I haven’t seen that. I’d reach out to Apple. i suspect that it’s something else in the boot process but without examining the start log, I wouldn’t know what. Apple has tools for this.

Nothing off the top of my head but I’ll check.

It was one of the fixes Apple mentioned in their release notes. I'm pretty sure it was 13.4. So they know about it. And like I said, ain't a deal breaker. :?

Thanks again, Mike, for all your input. It is much appreciated.

You have options. Enabling the menu bar for two screens only does not appear to be one of them (unlike the Dock, sort of).

If the Menu Bar is hidden by default, then it pops up on whichever screen you are on after you click anywhere. Here's an overview for the Menu bar.

How to automatically hide (and show) the menu bar on Mac

The Dock has similar properties and you can control it from the same screen. You can customize which app icons display on which desktop (which I never do).

Thanks, Mike! Turns out that it’s not really a big deal having the menu bar on all my monitors. I was sort of prepping with the idea of incorporating the Slate Raven MTi2.

That really is a shame. Odd how it can regress like that. I was very happy to find that 13.4.1 seems to have cured my Spotlight woes.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I've recently noticed that my keyboard isn't immediately recognized after starting up my computer. I'll often get a dialog stating that it's searching for a device. If I hit the spacebar, it seems to "wake it up."

However, I'm STILL on 13.4....about to update to 13.4.1.

Well so much for Spotlight working right again. Just did a search and it doesn't see anything on my "DP Projects" volume. I guess what was nice fleeting moment there right after I installed 13.4.1? :banghead:

My Logitech MX Keys has been that way forever on both my Intel and my M2 Minis. I figured it was because the computer started and it's waiting for the bluetooth/drivers to connect?
