how to delete plug-ins?

Post by henrod »

Hi, all. I just installed Komplete 14 Standard and it seems to be working well with DP10 on my mid-2014 15" retina MBP running Catalina.

I had installed some Antares demos and I deleted all of it in the Finder, but the plugins still show up in Audio System Plugin Prefs in DP. This screenshot is what it looks like after I selected the plugins and clicked "delete". They didn't delete, and the set changed back to Enable All after I created a new set. That new set is gone from the list.

Is this some known weirdness, or did I somehow bring it on? I'm VERY new to using plugins. I'v ebeen using hardware synths for decades and just took the plunge. Thanks in advance for any help.

Scott

You can leave them alone or go to the VST3 folder and delete them manually.

The default path is (Macintosh HD)/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3

Sort them by name and you'll find them quickly. Move to Trash, enter your Admin password if asked and delete.

No, it's missing. There is no VST3 folder in that directory.

You're going to have to find it.

Use Find under the File menu in Finder. Search for one of those Antares libraries. When found, click on it and look at the bottom of the window to see where the enclosing folder is. You can double-click to open the folder and delete the files from there.

That was his user-library path.

It's obviously in the main (boot) library.

I suspected as much but he didn’t show the full path. Glad he found it.

Ah but he effectively did Brother Mike:

The Lib folder showed that he'd navigated to it via the Go menu or using a key command 'cause it was "translucent", meaning that he hadn't yet made it visible by-default.

The desktop, documents and downloads folders provide further clues that it's his user-library folder in the picture.

I'm no expert, as you well know, but it appeared obvious to me, hence the "confident declaration".

You are right. I missed that on my phone but see it clearly on the Big 27 Inch.

Cheers!

Phew!

I was sweatin' on it just a bit 'cause my knowledge in such areas (anything computers!) pales into beyond-insignificance compared to yours Mike.

I tried to use the same method to get rid of all the UAD-2 Satellite demo plug-ins, but they are still there.

Have you checked the VST and Components folders? You mentioned VST3 but if there are VST2 and AU versions, that's where you will find them.

Another thing to keep in mind, once you uncheck a plugin in plugin preferences it's not loading into DP and has no impact. Sometimes I will still see a reference to a plugin I deleted completely off my system still in the plugin preferences window. I suppose I could go through and trash DP and MOTU preferences in my user Library? but it again isn't affecting anything really so rebuilding my preferences to me is more of a hassle than that's worth.

Forcing DP to rescan plugins doesn’t deal with that problem?
