Clockworks on a Mac Studio can no longer recognise TWO MEXTs?

Post by miketorr »

I have two MIDI Express XT units, and they are both connected to my Mac Studio via a powered hub. When I first set them up, Clockworks was able to handle both devices at the same time. However, at some point this stopped working (I haven't really changed much in the mean time, for example I haven't done a major MacOS upgrade or anything like that - the studio is a recent build). As of now, I can power on a single MEXT unit (either one) and it appears in Clockworks... but it they're both on, then only one appears: the other one isn't shown.

I thought I should ask here in case I've done something stupid! Perhaps someone else has already fixed this issue and can help?

Many thanks!

I would try looking in Audio MIDI setup and make sure both units are hooked up there. You might have to add one.

I wonder if your two interfaces would just appear as one 16 in and 16 out interface. That’s what used to happen when I would daisy chain my old MTP off my MTP/AV USB.

Thanks! l believe both units show in there, but one is disabled and can't be accessed. So the system knows about its existence, but can't talk to it.

That's an interesting phenomenon! I'll definitely check again in case this has happened, but I think I would probably have noticed. My two units, by the way, are plugged into USB on separate ports of the hub, so I wouldn't say they were daisy chained. Not sure whether that makes a difference or not...
