Ventura 13.4 dropped. Installing now.

Well... gonna give this a whirl. Was out of town for a couple of days and just got notification that Ventura 13.4 was available to install. We'll see how this goes!

I don't know if it's linked, but I'm experiencing issues with inconsistent mouse tracking now. I'm using a Logictech mouse with the Steer Mouse driver. Was fine before. May try uninstalling steer mouse and using system driver and see if that fixes it for now.

Update: So hard to be sure. Going to try and clean the mouse underneath... maybe something is blocking the optical sensor. Dunno. I uninstalled Steer Mouse and still didn't seem to solve the issue complete. Oh well...

A bit of sticky tape on an optical sensor can work wonders for bits of contaminant that are invisible to the naked eye.

I put 13.4 on my M1 Air, as I got a break for my live use Mac Monterey to Ventura migration; MainStage seems to be performing fine.

I do NOT know if it was related, but upon Googling I did see that there were some issues affecting networking with 13.4. This is purely anecdotal, so don't read too much into it, but it seems like I'm experiencing occasional disconnects between my MC Control & MC Mix surfaces and my Mac since installing it. It isn't very bad and on the few times I've experienced it, relaunching EuControl has cleared up the issue.

James, I'll skip this update for now, if it has mouse tracking issues, as that is my biggest complaint about 13.3, and frankly every version of macOS for the past year or so.

My system did not alert me to 13.4 and still doesn't show it. Oh, wait, it finally does if I click and expand the revised (and in my view greatly inferior) Settings Window and am patient enough to wait a few minutes. Apparently it doesn't show up until that specific sub-panel is triggered to update itself.

Interestingly, this relates to my biggest criticism of Ventura's Settings Window, which is that it takes eons for a new choice to show the appropriate page for that choice. This can be confusing and frustrating, especially when just quickly checking whether the mouse battery is almost dead before going off to prepare dinner.

Been thinking of updating from Big Sur, but 13.4 (which is all that's available to me) is just a few days old, so I'm wary of compatibility issues, of course, and iLok has acted up in the past.

Is Rosetta still a thing in Ventura? I need it to access old Mach 5 libraries.

No problem with iLok. Rosetta 2 will be around a few years like the previous transitions.

When you bounce to disk, DP tracks are numbered, not the names that we're used to. MOTU has acknowledged that there's an issue and that what we are seeing is a workaround. BTD has issues over Ventura—won't bounce to Core Audio—unless you are running DP 11.22 — again, MOTU's workaround … works.

Yeah... I'm not sure how much of it was due to the mouse perhaps needing cleaning, or how much now, is due to my paranoid and tentativeness moving the mouse. It might be because I'm using the third party SteerMouse driver. I have noticed that it might be a little erratic when there is a background process happening... like for example if my Mac is in the midst of doing a Time Machine backup, it feels like my mouse becomes a little jumpy. I might just need a SteerMouse update. Maybe it's all in my head. I did remove SteerMouse, but then that didn't seem to help, so I reinstalled, but I lost all my ballistics/speed settings for SteerMouse somehow, so if I ever get that dialed in just right again, I better screenshot the preference panel.

DP and 13.4 seem to be AOK on my Mac Studio.
