MOTU M4 Firmware Version?

Post by wdegillio »

Is there a way to determine what firmware version is present on my M4? I noticed there was a firmware update posted this week; when I began the process of updating, the installer stated that the firmware on my unit was current. I checked the user guide (RTFM!) but could not find a way of determining this. On the M4 there is no startup screen stating the firmware version. Thanks in advance for your help.

I see the March 29, 2023 M Series Firmware updaters for Mac and Windows. Unfortunately, it doesn’t give any more details. I’ll try running it on mine tonight to see if I get the same result.

Yes, there is. I am on macOS 12.64 and this is where I found it:
  • Apple Menu -> About this Mac -> System Profiler
  • Hardware -> USB
  • Scroll down the USB Device Tree and locate M4
  • Click on M4

You should see something like this:
M4:
Product ID: 0x000b
Vendor ID: 0x07fd
Version: 2.04
Serial Number: M4xxxxxxxx
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/s
Manufacturer: MOTU
Location ID: 0x14400000 / 5
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 500
Extra Operating Current (mA): 0

Version is the firmware version.

Hope this is helpful!
