24ai fails to start IO

Hello,
Really struggling with my 24ai as of late. It seems to not want to start IO.

Steps:

• load Ableton
• Choose "No Device" for both Input and Ouput
• Choose 24ai for output
• Live hangs for a long time
• eventually Live stops hanging, attempt to start IO
• timeline doesn't start

Setup:
Mac Studio
Ventura 13.2
Latest MOTU drivers (as of 2/8/23)

I should note, I also have a MotU 828ES that works

Doing some more debugging and it seems correlated to when I have both the 828ES and the 24ai powered and bus connected

seems to be whichever device arrives SECOND on the system goes into this failure mode

Are you connecting both via USB? Perhaps using the 24ai as an AVB Module might work better...

both are on usb yes, but AVB limits my I/O capabilities. This had been working, but recent driver updates seem to have regressed

How? I have an 828es with a 24Ai connected to the back of the 828es with a Cat5e cable. You have to set it up in the AVB routing matrix and enable one AVB stream for each 8 channels on the 24Ai you want to use. It was a little confusing at the time, but I use my 24Ai to connect external hardware synth modules and it all works fine. Not sure what I could get from the 24Ai connected via USB that I’m not already getting?

I think previously I was trying to do a Virtual Device that connected both my 828 and 24ai, but this seems like a better use of AVB for me since the 828ES can handle the I/O to the computer over USB.

Trying to get the 24Ai setup as an AVB input expander at the moment and mostly working, but I'm finding setting up the mixer to be a bit fickle at times. That's just icing though really
