Love the new forum look!

Post by FMiguelez »

I don't know what Dorothy did, but I love this new MOTUNation look.
The fonts are crisp and clear, and easier to read; there aren't so many blinding whites anymore.

I especially like how it looks with the colours (OS prefs) inverted. White websites feel like an assault on my eyes, so I use a shortcut for quickly changing this. The site looks really nice with either, but I'll stick to inverted colour in this one as well.

Nice job James! :unicorn:

Well actually the previous theme was dark. Then I got complaints and spent several hours making modifications. The subsequent modifications then in turn created more complaints including referring to the look as "insane." So I just went to this theme which is relatively plain and unimaginative, but nonetheless uncluttered and should hopefully keep people off my back for a while. When you look at some of the other popular audio-related forums this is in keeping with that and looks better than most IMHO.

Oh, and "Dorothy" (the imaginary MOTUnation employee) only works in accounting. She's who I send users with various complaints about this forum to in order to process full refund of their membership dues. :lol:

Cool look, very sharp text. Some say there's no accounting for taste, but apparently there's no accounting for Doris, if Dorothy has taken her place in accounting. Are they twin sisters?

Ditto,

The new font is really nice and readable. What is it? It looks like some kind of Aerial font or something.

I can dig down into the cascading style sheets that come with the theme. To me it looks very similar to Futura.

I just dug a little into the style sheet for the theme and this is the applicable section I found:
font-family: Poppins, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
So I guess it's Helvetica Neue? I don't know what the "Poppins" means.

Well, one of my favourite sayings comes from Mary Poppins:

"A job begun is a job half-done."

So, maybe the name implies that the mere act of choosing that font is so-beneficial that it gets half the forum-facelift job done? :? :lol:
