After this update I noticed that I haven't had any spontaneous drive ejects. Am I confident that Apple fixed the problem? No, but I'll take it for now. Probably just jinxed myself.

I haven't had any ejects, either. Although sometimes my USB4 enclosure isn't recognized upon boot. I have to do the unplug-replug dance for it to appear on the desktop. Once it does, I'm good to go. I keep my sample libraries on it and it's wicked fast (like 2700+MB/s) so I put up with it. :)

Hmm, I can't remember if I've had that happen since the update, but I think I have, maybe once or twice.

For the past few months, it most often happens at midnight or 1am, when the OS is processing the change to sleep mode on notifications.

As we can't seem to turn off notifications altogether, the best I could do was turn them off from 1am to midnight.

For whatever reason, this also quite often causes drives to spontaneously eject. But not as often with 12.6.2.

I have Ventura on my test volume and get continuous messages that the USB key with Waves licences was ejected without being closed — presumably the same bug. I was trying to create a usable setup for at least Logic 10.7, without luck because of this, along with other things not yet supported. (e.g. my main Roland MIDI controller). But the old BCF2000 works fine. Good old Behringer.

No problems with this update. Ate the usually amount of update time on 2 different M1's.

I'm having worse problems than ever, the past few days, with brand new reboots now showing all of my drives, Activity Monitor showing 0% CPU usage in spite of apps taking eons to load and become useful (even trivial ones, and only one for the session vs. multiple launches).

I think I'm being punished for having an "old" computer from 2017.

The frequency of updates is much faster than I remember from the past. Each one improves things at first, but only for a while. I don't have time to write up all the things I've done, but don't assume that means I haven't spent a lot of time on this.

Not able to upgrade past Monterey yet due to compatibility with important everyday software in my arsenal.

My intern is on an M1 laptop and faces almost all the same issues I do, at the same level of severity. He too uses Unix command line in his arsenal of tricks to suss out and/or fix issues that come up.

The odd thing is that none of the behavioral problems my computer is exhibiting this past year since my Monterey upgrade, are ones I had ever encountered at any time in almost 20 years of home computer use on macOS before today.
