Actually seems like you're on the right track in your troubleshooting. I would think if you actually "disable* the track by clicking the little blue ball, that completely separates it from DP's audio engine. I would think that would be good enough. I suppose you could make a backup to experiment with "Save As..." and then one at a time actually delete tracks. But again, I'm with you... *disabling* should be good enough. Perhaps it is something else.

As an old standby you could always try creating a new project and the loading that chunk from the old project into the new project.

I tried Loading early on, but it did not sort it out. And yes, I'm disabling tracks entirely while I troubleshoot, but it's remotely possible, I suppose, that the plugins are still being recognized by DP on some level.

As has been established busses do go bad. I've fixed a crashy projects in the past by replacing corrupted busses. I'm thinking I might have included a bad buss in my template.

I have a few things to try now at least. I'll report back any progress. Thanks!

And to make this even more fun, the project that was crashing-on-open consistently inexplicably stopped crashing on open! I still have older versions of the project that exhibit the crash, but I'm stumped as to what the difference is.

Since I keep running into the crashing-on-open issue (this is at least the 6th or 7th project that's had this issue in DP11), I'm motivated to figure it out. I've tried about a dozen different things to fix the old crashy version of the project, but nothing is working. I'm glad the project managed to correct itself, but I'd sure like to know what causes projects to get like this.

RESOLVED I think!

Even though the sequence was crashing-on-open even with all tracks disabled, removing UAD bx_subsynth from the crashy project seems to have fixed it. I enabled the VST version and it does not does not cause the crash when opening. ...TG for VST. Thanks all!

Ahhh... was this the native UADx version or the UAD-2 version that requires DSP? The UADx native versions are known to be crashy with DP on occasion.

Nope, UAD-2. None of the bx plugins are available as UADx yet. I updated all my AU UAD plugins before I tried the VST versions btw. The issue seems to be with the AU version of this plugin only.

Wow. Interesting! I only experienced crashes on project opens with a few of the UADx plugs. Glad you figured it out.
