Upgrading

Post by brolly »

So I have a 2013 trash can Mac running Mojave and DP9.
This week I’m upgrading to DP 11.04.
Any reason why I shouldn’t upgrade to Monterey at the same time?

Mojave was the last MacOS to run 32bit apps and plugins. Other than that, no reason I can think of. A few things:

Have a recent Time Machine backup before you start. If you discovered that the Monterey update was premature, you have a 24 hour window to roll it back without doing a full Time Machine Restore.

If you have Autotune or any other plugin that uses the CodeMeter Runtime for licensing, update it before installing Monterey. You will have CodeMeter.app in Applications and a panel in System Preferences if you do.

If your MacPro 6.1 still has its AHCI SSD inside, you can triple the Read/Write speed and increase the capacity to 2TB for around $200 last I priced it out — takes 5 minutes to install plus data transfer.
