Hello MOTU Experts,
I need your help with installing a MOTU MIDI Express 128 device on a Windows XP (32-bit, SP3) PC.
I realize I need to install a driver.
I see two drivers listed under:
Driver Download
1.
USB MIDI Installer for Windows
This installer (version 4.0.48697) installs updated drivers for Windows 7, Vista, and XP for all MOTU USB MIDI interfaces
File Name: MIDI_Installer-Win-110806.zip
2.
WDM MIDI Drivers for MOTU USB and Parallel Interfaces
WDM Drivers for MOTU USB compatible with all MOTU USB & parallel MIDI interfaces
File Name: SETUPMIDI_2.51.zip
My question is do I need to install both drivers?
If so, in what order?

Re: Installing MOTU MIDI Express 128 under Windows XP
Hi,
Probem solved.
Travis Hagan from MOTU Technical Support was kind enough to assist me in installing the 3 MOTU MIDI Express 128 units under Windows XP Professional (32-bit, SP3).
I had to download a Zip File named MIDI_Installer-Win-110806.zip
The link is on Page 5 of the PDF document referenced below.
After running SetupMIDI.exe, the first time you connect the MOTU MIDI Express 128 device, it proceeds to install these two drivers:
• MOTU USB MIDI (WDM)
• MOTU MIDI Device
You would be prompted to install these two drivers again when you connect the 2nd unit and yet one more time when you connect the 3rd unit.
You will end up with 24 MIDI IN/OUT Ports named as follows on Windows XP:
Express 128: Port 1
Express 128: Port 2
Express 128: Port 3
Express 128: Port 4
Express 128: Port 5
Express 128: Port 6
Express 128: Port 7
Express 128: Port 8
Express 128: Port 1 (2)
Express 128: Port 2 (2)
Express 128: Port 3 (2)
Express 128: Port 4 (2)
Express 128: Port 5 (2)
Express 128: Port 6 (2)
Express 128: Port 7 (2)
Express 128: Port 8 (2)
Express 128: Port 1 (3)
Express 128: Port 2 (3)
Express 128: Port 3 (3)
Express 128: Port 4 (3)
Express 128: Port 5 (3)
Express 128: Port 6 (3)
Express 128: Port 7 (3)
Express 128: Port 8 (3)
Installation under Windows 7 Professional (64-bit, SP3) is a lot simpler.
I took screenshots during the installation process and made a PDF document showing every step.

Everything is working like a charm.
