DP Crashing on Bounce to Disk

Post by dwilliams »

I'm trying to bounce a large session. There are probably 60 tracks and tons of bussing and plugins, but it plays back for the most part. DP keeps crashing on bounce to disk. It is also crashing if I try to add a print track bus. The track won't play through without dropouts so I can't record the mix that way either. I've tried to create a new project and load the sequence I'm trying to bounce but that locks up also. I'm like What the heck? I've been with DP for years but more and more lately I'm thinking I need to evaluate the competition. There are just too many problems that slow down my work.

Any ideas on how to get this to work?

Dave,

A few things comes to mind..

1. Are all your drives OK ?

2. All your drivers / plugins updated to their "best" version (for the OS version) ?

3. What buffer size are you using ?

My setup is rock solid, and I'm using 10.13 but I'm on sierra.

You may take look at the console and check what is actually going on in your...

What is your buffer size on mix down? Now increase it.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have tried to do the bounce from multiple drives including the system drive and two external drives.

I have updated almost everything recently. There are so many plugins though. Some might not be up to date.

I have tried buffer sizes of 1024, 2048 and 4096.

Dave,

Then I would look at the plugins that you are using in the project, and check that those are up to date.

You could use the app “Audio Hijack” to capture audio in real time internally. It works great and could be used as a workaround until you get things sorted out. I use it when I want to skip around a session and record various takes for clients all in one file. Today I used it to show them 3 different guitar solo options.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have BlackHole installed and can use that to record directly into Amadeus Pro. I tried it, but the problem is I get dropouts at certain points in the song. I'm trying to find some plugins that are using a lot of resources and printing them. Unfortunately, they are usually on buses...
