Sidechain option not always available?

Post by wonder »

I just purchased a plugin from Arturia and the instructions explicitly state to route the output of an audio track to a bus and then set the input of the plugins side chain to that bus output.

The SideChain option in the effects window to that Arturia plug isn't showing up.

I'll switch over to something like Waves H-Comp and the side chain input option shows up.

Is there a reason or setting within DP that would impact the side chain input dropdown menu to be visible or not visible?

Not that I know of.

Is this an AU plugin? If so, does the VST version show the SC?

It is an AU plugin.

Not sure about the VST. How would I force open the VST version vs the AU version?

I haven't messed with that for a while, so the details are fuzzy.

You might be able to selectively choose which one you want to activate in the preferences under Audio Plugins. If not, then I think you must activate the whole VST shebang first (which I think you can do from that same window). Just be careful. Depending on how many plugins you have, it may take hours for DP to authorize the VST versions (providing you installed them, of course); and this is just a test, to see if the VST shows the SCs.

Other than that, if some other plugins do show their SCs correctly, perhaps it's an Arturia issue?

DP 9 seems to let you choose either VST or AU but won't do combinations of both. You set your choice in preferences.

It's possible that the side-chaining might not appear or function until you've configured it in a track/channel. (Like how ProVerb will act stupid until you give it outputs).

Go into the Plugin preference and see if it is checked. If not, check it. There may be a validation and reloading of samples. But after that you should be able to use either format.

Which plugin? Are other Arturia plugins, with sidechaining, allowing it? ...I have very few Arturia plugins, and none with sidechain capability, but maybe someone else can confirm the issue.

Thanks, I CAN now load selected VST's along with AUs. For some reason I must have done something dumb before.

Sorry to hijack.

With DP 10, you can also access those plugs that show additional functionality as VST3.

Same problem here with DP11. Can't route any input to the Arturia MS-20 External Signal Processor: the Sidechain menu is not available in the Instrument window. The same path - audio track to bus 1-2 - works with other plugins equipped wih a sidechain input (Dynamics, H-Comp etc)

Use the VST3 version. Same for Arturia's Vocoder.

Disable the AU version and enable the VST3 version of the plugin.

I just tried it, but still can't see the Sidechain menu. Checked both versions of the VST2 instrument, mono and stereo
