Online Petition for information about the 64-bit update of Encore on Mac

Hi,
Since the release of MacOS 10.15 Catalina on October 9, 2019, which endorsed the permanent abandonment of 32-bit, a message has been sent warning us not to upgrade to Catalina, adding: "We are continuing to develop our products to meet Apple's new operating system. »
Since this day no information is given to us concerning this update.
… and bla, bla, bla…

I just got off the phone with Don Williams, Encore's original developer and owner/developer of SonicScores/Overture—he and I have been in touch for awhile. He has completed the purchase of all code and IP of PassportDesigns and will soon re-launch the passportdesigns.com web site.

It appears that Encore is going to be raised from the dead. Plans include 64 bit for Mac/Win, MusicXML 3.0 import/export, multiple undo and possibly a few other features. The immediate goal is to get it working and reading older files so that longtime users can access them and export if desired.

At the moment, I have no other details nor do I have a timeline. I may or may not be affiliated with the new enterprise.

Don called me yesterday. Long story short, he is considering three alternatives:

a) Updating Overture to open all Encore files (Mac & Win) with MusicXML 3.0 export. No idea if this will be paid for those of us with Overture 5 licenses already. He says this is the fastest.

b) A web only version of Encore that behaves like version 5.0.7 including MusicXML 3.0 export but can open all older files (something no version can do now). Could happen soon.

c) A 64 bit port of Encore for Mac with a few features I've been pushing. Price will include Encore 6 when it becomes available. Could take awhile.

I want (c) but could settle for either (b) or (a) if I had to.

Any thoughts?

In other news, he says that he's fixed some glaring bugs in the Windows version already.

I spoke to Don Williams this morning. He is in a part of of Florida that escaped the brunt of the hurricane. Progress is being made. When I have real news, I will post. What I don't want to do is tease features and dates that aren't ready yet.

In the meantime, use the Passport Music Software Forum to discuss problems and feature requests. Don reads them and has found some quite informative. I promised him I would join also so that users will know I am there.

He has all of the serial# lists and registered email addresses going back but expects that, when announcements are made, the majority of those addresses will no longer be good. This is another reason to join that forum.
