As mentioned on the other thread, I put the SSL 2+ up for sale last week, after being shocked at how bad its D/A converters are in comparison even to ten year old RME gear. But it's way better than the Focusrite Scarlett that I owned briefly last fall, in that regard.

It's the A/D converters that have kind of leveled off between the low and and the high end over the past 15 years. I notice differences, and sometimes as much as 2x or 4x factor depending on the context (solo piano, home recordings, vocals, etc.), but I endorse what others have said about not letting A/D be the main factor anymore. having said that, I haven't used or heard some of the other models mentioned in this thread.
