I'm trying to get my M4 working as external DAC for my iPad Pro - as they are both usb-c I was assuming it should 'just work'. Power seems fine but the audio is not routing through to the M4. Is there some configuration I'm missing or do I really need to buy the CCK to downgrade usb-c to regular usb then adapt back again to usb-c?
I've tried doing this with a regular (non-apple) adapter but that's not worked either - is there some magic inside CCK that makes this different to any other make of USB adapter?
thanks in advance!

Re: M4 vs iPad Pro usb-c
I think it is just an insufficient power issue. I was never able to get the M4 to work with my iPad without a powered hub (something that is still not mentioned on MOTU's specs/system requirements page).
M1 MBP; OS 12, FF800, DP 11.3, Kontakt 7, Reaktor 6, PC3K7, K2661S, iPad6, Godin XTSA, Two Ibanez 5 string basses (1 fretted, 1 fretless), FM3, SY-1000, etc.

Could be, although this page explicitly says no powered hub is required:
https://motu.com/techsupport/technotes/ ... -ios-power
"Note: the powered USB hub and camera adapter are only required for use with iOS devices with Lightning connectors. iPads with USB-C ports should be able to power M-Series interfaces without issue."

"should be able to power"
Love the confidence.
Seriously, that makes sense. I'm on a lightning iPad.
