Mackie Control Problem
Hi all
Please move if not in the right forum.
Got an original Mackie control unit , the one with MIDI only ports.
Haven't used it in a while , been in the closet for +- 10 years .....
Now that I need it , it's been troublesome.
It sends all the info , but doesn't receive any.
What I tried as troubleshooting :
-It's setup in Audio MIDI utility as Mackie control assigned to the right USB unit.
-When I do "control surface setup" in DP , the MCU appears as usual as send and receive.
(I know how to set it up as I used it a lot in the past , never had any trouble)
- changed and switched the MIDI cables multiple times.
- tried 2 different MIDI to USB Interface wich works flawlessly with all my other MIDI stuff.
- tried on different DAW (DP10.11 , DP9.52 , Live 10 , Nuendo) , always the same thing : send but no recieve.
- tried on 3 different CPU with different OS (10.12 , 10.13 , 10.14)
So , of course , that lead me to think that the MCU is defective , but if I try the MIDI loop trick , it receives all it's infos.

(That trick is for MCU Pro though .....)
Then I plug it in a MIDI/USB unit ,it always send it's info right but doesn't receive anything back from any DAW.
Any ideas on what to try before I send it to the doctor ?
I really hope it's a "Code 18" thing ...
(I don't have access to a PC or a DAW on PC to quadruple check)

Anyone ?
Re: Mackie Control Problem
I have no idea what the problem might be, but I've figured out a lot of MIDI problems using MIDI Monitor from Snoize. It shows you what MIDI data is going where. You can get it to look at what, if anything, is coming out of what you think is the source that should be going to the Mackie.

Re: Mackie Control Problem
At first glance, it may be a 32 bit vs 64 bit issue. Does the Mackie require any drivers of its own?

Re: Mackie Control Problem
Cannot get the problem clearly. But most issues result due to bit mismatch
Re: Mackie Control Problem
So , I've been able to try my Mackie Control V1 ( MIDI only , no USB) on a PC and everything works.
If it's a 32bit vs 64 bit thing , what do I have to remove or install to make it work ?
I was assuming that by installing the latest version of DP , it must install the latest Mackie control plugin/protocol/ whatever ?
If not , what should I do ?
What should I delete and where ?
And replace with what ?
Thanx

Re: Mackie Control Problem
..... I need info on how these works ( Computer side of things)
Anyone know what to delete and what to re-install in order to make it work properly ?
( In 64 bit system)
Tried to join Mackie , but they told me that they don't do support for these anymore

Re: Mackie Control Problem
Found a solution
I have a iConnectivity Mio4 and an Ultralite AVB that serves as a UBS-MIDI interface , both didn't work for the Mackie Control.
Took a guess and bought an iConnectivity Mio (single port) and it works !!!!!!!
When I saw that it was working , tried it again with my Mio4 and UL-AVB , still didn't work.
So , had to try with a third USB-MIDI to make it work.
My normal "trouble shooting process" usually stops at two.....
I really don't know what's up with the other two and the MC , they work really fine with everything else MIDI .......
