Windows - Expired certificate in installer

Post by toddbooster »

Attempting to install or uninstall both DP 9.52 and DP 10.01 in Windows triggers error 0x800b0101 "A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file."

Anyone else having this issue? I've created a techlink, but I'm interested to see if it's affecting anyone else.

Is your time zone correct in settings or using VPN?

The only solution I found was to roll back the date to 2018 in order to complete the installation/uninstallation. After that you can set the date back and everything seems to be OK.

No, no VPN at the moment. Date and time are set automatically, but they are correct, as is the time zone.

Thanks for the advice, changing the date fixed it. I created a techlink with Motu, so will let them know should they not be aware of it, thanks all !

Got a reply today. MOTU is aware and looking into the issue, but until then, the solution I posted is their recommended workaround.

hi all
ive been experimenting with building a windows machine to see about getting off mac (love the new mac pro, dont love the $6K asking price) and ran into this issue when setting it up the other day.

for a bit of technical explanation, the installer's digital certificate is expired. MOTU needs to get a new one from Verisign and post an updated installer. Setting your date to anything prior to 9/30/2019 will allow the installation to run.

I'm having the same issue and just DP 10 yesterday. A little disappointed as I've been anticipating purchasing this product for a while now. MOTU please fix.

I really don't want to have to set my clock back just to install a product.

My main question is, how did it expired in Sept 2019 and we are in Nov 2019?

That is just nutty. Has anyone called MOTU support about this yet?
I'll call them Wednesday morning.
Insane.

This certificate issue makes it impossible to uninstall 10.01 if you want to. They claim the new 10.1 can coexist with 10.01, but I somehow doubt that.

Still calling them!

I had talked to MOTU a day after my post and they suggested I set me clock back, install, and then reset my clock. I was at least able to get it to install.

Ah yes - I had read that but already forgot to try it. That worked just fine. I set the clock back to September and the uninstall went smoothly.

Thanks for the reminder! :-)
