Warren Huart on youtube loves the Lewitt mics and brings up the different models often - if that means anything to you. I do believe he actually uses them, and isn't just advertising to get freebies.

I can confirm that these are a solid choice, I'm recording pretty much everything I play with these and am always satisfied, it's just a shame that my skills aren't as good as the mic deserves to hear

LCT-140 air pair

Post by philbrown »

I bought a pair of LCT 140 air's (pretty much the same mic but more features). I couldn't be happier. These mics sound like they cost way more. The air switch worked well (REALLY well) for acoustic gtr, but was a bit much for drum overheads, where the flat setting sounded great. Even the mic clip is well thought-out and a nice extra touch. I'll probably sell my Oktava 012's and get a matched pair of 040's as well. Then I can use the matched pair for O/H and one of the 140 air's for hi-hat.

There are some good sound examples on this page:

Yeah, it feels a little weird using these when I have much more expensive mics available. I paid less than 100 bucks a piece for a matched pair! But damn it, they sound really good.

I still have not had an opportunity to use them on drums. I've used them now on three different acoustic guitars and been very happy with the results. Also worked great on harmonium (might have to look that one up) which was an interesting, to say the least, project. And, tuna can on a table top. We're entering Sylvia Massy territory here so I'll end with that.
