DP 10 bug - Creating track group causes crash

Post by toddbooster »

Reporting this here as I am demoing the DP10 trial and thus can't make a support ticket.

DP10 - 10.0.79351
Windows 10 Pro 1809

I was attempting to create a track group to test the new VCA faders and discovered that creating a group causes DP to immediately crash. This happens with old projects created in DP9, as well as new blank projects.

Steps to reproduce:
  • 1. Open a new empty project in DP10.
    2. Create 3 new mono audio tracks.
    3. Shift + click to multi-select the tracks in the mixer.
    4. Right click and select "Create Group".
    5. Watch in horror as DP goes "poof" and returns you to your desktop.
Can anyone else out there see if they can repeat this bug?
Intel Core i7 8700K, 32 GB, Windows 10 Pro, DP 10.13, MOTU Ultralite AVB.

Have you tried selecting the tracks to group in the tracks overview window instead of the mixer?
I’ve done it that way with no problem.
(Highlight tracks, right-click and select Add track/ VCA Track and Group
I’m running DP on a Mac however, so that might be something as well.

Actually, that works just fine (I hadn't tried it that way). Trying that has also made me investigate further, and it's not as bad as it seems (although, it's still an issue). It seems that it's not actually the process creating a group thats crashing things; if you select a track in the mixer, hit "create group", then accidentally click on any empty space inside the mixer instead of on another track, DP crashes to the desktop.

To summarize: Creating track groups in the mixer does work, but if you click anywhere by mistake during the process - boom!

I was able to repro this. I didn't even have to do step three. Just right clicking on a fader and clicking in the "wrong" place causes the crash.

BTW, I never noticed this, but you can also get the "create Group" plus sign using the key combo Win+N, and for some reason a mis-click using that command does NOT cause the crash. So you can see if that'll work for you.

I'll report this.
