A "meh", in Spanish, from me too> Equis!, or with a little more gusto, eeeeeeequis...

This could be the time for them to bring back some of what they've taken out, such as the normal internal movie capabilities, scanning, etc...

It's out today. On four hours sleep and a 14 hour work day, I'm too tired to dig bag into emails and follow web links at the moment. So I haven't checked the upgrade price yet.

If they did that I'd update. If not, I won't.

The upgrade is $149 from any previous version, which seems pretty steep, as that's pretty close to what I paid for the product originally via a cross-grade from Notion.

It's nice that they aren't undercutting their resellers, which is a problem with a lot of vendors that must have a bunch of on-line stores fuming from time to time.

I'm not noticing a deadline on that promotion of $119.

Those prices haven't changed since 2016.

Same pricing at Guitar Center!Musicians Friend but the links still show Finale 25. I bet that B&H and others are similarly priced.

They are, however, screwing their users and ultimately, themselves, by removing value and in some instances, essential features. I would update or purchase Finale again even if it was free. I’d tell you what I really think but James has established civil standards on posts.

No disagreement.

I had a session last night with a Sibelius user. Via xml, I imported it into Notion 6 where I was able to create stems and sync to its movie window. Although I dislike its workflow as a notation app (What the hell were they thinking? comes up a lot), as a VI host for AV, it's pretty nice. Not bad for a $79 crossgrade.

The new features and enhancements in Notion 6 ... mixes with up to eight stereo buses through the built-in software mixer.

The reason I don't use DP for this is lack of MusicXML import—if there was heavy lifting involved, then DP, of course. The only mistakes that Notion made on .xml import were a few ties missing from a guitar part and the glockenspiel came in an octave too low. Being a notation app, I was able to fix both issues in less than a minute.

Thanks, Mike. I'll check it out. If Sibelius cross grade from Finale is, in fact, $80, I'm totally in at this point. The writing is on the wall, IMO. Finale will become the notation program for music educators (or so that seems to be the direction). And for plain old notation, it does excel in that area (speaking as a music educator). But for scoring to picture, Finale is dead in the water. It's one of the few things that prevents me from going to High Sierra. The other things are Adobe CS 5 & 6, which I also depend on and never want to pay Adobe a yearly license fee, butt eye digress... lol :arrrr:

I don't know about that.

The Notion crossgrade was $79 for me—you have to email for the price and store link. I bought it strictly for its AV capabilities and the time savings has more than paid for it.

Its workflow is not intuitive. You have to enable your VI wrappers in one screen (ARIA, Kontakt, UVI and SampleTank in my case) then select the instruments in the Mixer. Once figured out, it's fast and easy.

The included instruments are nice especially the string ensemble and mallet percussion. Of course, for the price, PreSonus is not going to give you a ton of them. Unlike Finale, the included VIs download with the demo (ahem MM...).
