MOTU Ultralite No guitar signal

2 guitars are going into 2 inputs on a Pendulum Preamp then out to MIcs 1 and 2 on my MOTU Ultralite. I have the trims turned off so not to use the MOTU preamps.
I'm using Logic 8. Everything is working great!
I also want to go direct with a 1/4 " cable as a 3rd track into the MOTU and use the MOTU preamp.
I have the guitar 1/4 "cable going into Input track 3 on the MOTU.
In Logic, I have a third track, Output 3-4.
I'm not getting a signal
Am I suppose to be doing something with the Bus for that 3rd track?
