Flashing sample rate and no sound.

Mac OS: Yosemite
MOTU Ultralite MK3 Hybrid
Current firmware on MOTU 1.06
Latest driver installed on Mac

So I had noticed random audio glitches when working in my DAW so I decided to investigate. I noticed that my MOTU interface had 1.07 firmware which seemed incorrect as the latest available for my particular device was 1.06. So I downloaded 1.06 firmware into the unit. Now every time I boot up the MOTU I get a flashing sample rate on the unit which doesn't resolve so I can actually use the interface. I tried redoing the firmware install, erasing all MOTU traces on my Mac and reinstalling drivers, etc. It seems it's an issue with the firmware on my unit and locking in sample rate. I have the unit set to internal clock. Tried resetting MOTU but that didn't fix the issue. Any idea what to try next?

Managed to get it solved by going back to a 1.07 firmware. Appears that that version is not on the website but a tech guy from MOTU gave me the link.

Still get the odd random 1 second audio glitch out which I can't pinpoint because it's just too random.

What Mac are you connecting to? How are you connected?

Currently Macbook i5 with 12 Gigs of RAM, Yosemite. Currently connected via USB to see if it's more stable than firewire. The audio glitches are random and about every 10 or so minutes. Doesn't appear to CPU related. Only happens in Ableton, not when watching videos or anything else. Too, only started happening recently.

A few things.
Bus power or external? Whichever way it is, try the opposite. This is normally the culprit and what I would do first.

If your USB bus is USB 3, try connecting through a USB 2 hub. If USB 2 bus, try a direct connection if going through a hub.

Disable App Nap in Ableton and see if that makes a difference. You can disable it on on an App-by-App Basis

or globally:

Desktop Macs should disable it globally. Portables can try it either way to see if battery life is affected.

Will try your suggestions. I have the interface connected to top USB port on macbook and I have a hub connected to the bottom one. I believe all my USB ports are 2.0 as it's an older macbook.
