High Sierra Update

This in the release notes for an update to High Sierra. That Apple did this is one thing, that they admitted it is another.

macOS High Sierra 10.13 Supplemental Update Released October 5, 2017 StorageKit Available for: macOS High Sierra 10.13 Impact: A local attacker may gain access to an encrypted APFS volume Description: If a hint was set in Disk Utility when creating an APFS encrypted volume, the password was stored as the hint.

Hmmm... not doing encrypted APFS, not an issue for me.

That damned well better be fixed in the next update — and soon.

Is this the recent issue that generated so much "TOLDJA SO" press about Apple, Mac and OS X? Suddenly it was like "all Macs have been easily crackable all the time, and Apple wasn't telling anyone!" Is this THAT issue? I can't be more specific; my habit is generally to ignore all that talk, but I admit that this one did get my attention. It was about two weeks ago, give or take a week. So it's not ALL Macs, ALL the time, but those using APFS (very recent) and only the ones that create encrypted volumes in the disk utility? Geez... People just love to bash Apple.
