monitoring latency

i got a rme hammerfall dsp multiface, a couple of hardware synths and my g5 with dp 4.5.2.
my problem is:
when i am monitoring my hardware drum machine thru dp 4.5.2 i am having latency...but when i record the drum machine the latency is gone. it‘s only there when i am live monitoring the hardware.
