I presume you are talking about the 8 channel unit which is meant to be brilliant. From many accounts, the single channel unit is not at the same level.
As for getting upset about the title...
It's an opinion on a forum, it's not personal.

Not upset. Just pointing out that your title isn't an opinion, it's a flat-footed statement of fact, and that statement is incorrect.

Yes, when referring to the Icon Platform-M, I am referring to an 8 channel control surface. The 8-channel unit is called a Platform-M. AFAIK, there is no single channel unit called a Platform-M. When someone says Platform-M, they are always referring to an 8 channel unit.

As for what gets said "from many accounts," who cares? If I had a dime for every angry, stupid thing that got said about DP online, I'd buy that Tesla roadster I've been eyeing.

There's also plenty of good stuff for IPad, but virtual faders suck.
How does one access the EQ in the DAW with the Platform M knobs / buttons ?

Jim ?

Thanks in advance and

I have no idea. Maybe it can't, maybe you have to creat your own layer. I've never tried because I never use the native shows-up-in-the-channel-strip EQ in DP. I sense some kind of dumb "gotcha" coming, so if that's the riff, then just keep it to yourself.

My primary language isn't english, but I sure didn't mean to harm…
I tend to ask actual users and also reply from my own experience
Thanks anyway

Interesting the subject of the built-in MOTU EQ came up. I find myself avoiding it also unless a) I'm just using the two-band to roll off bottom end... or b) I use the MasterWorks EQ (and often just to do the same thing.) I have to admit that I have a certain visceral bias that 3rd party plugs are superior when that's really not always the case.

I am sorry, Klaus. I was just typing like a jerk. Please accept this apology.

Oh it's already past and didn't harm , no need for apology

As for the Platform M…

I have one here and with the editor ( unfortunately WIN only at the moment ) I was able to map the 'switch to EQ' command, and it seems to work…including displaying feedback of EQ data on the Platform D ( the display that can be attached to the Platform M )
I use MIDI Monitor to see the BCF2000 MIDI messages > to the X32-edit software, but can't see the MIDI messages from X32-edit software to the > BCF2000…

Edit: Had to turn on 'spy on output to destinations'

Woah, the X32 sends permanently data...

Best regards

If you mean a constant flow of data is coming from the X32, that may be Active Sense data, which you might be able to filter out.

Thanks Terry
I am 'just observing what's going on,
so I can program the MIDI controller.
It's the data of the assignable buttons - tap ddl tempo, tap reverb time…
BTW
Has anybody seen a general MCU protocol MIDI message mapping ?
Thanks

Klaus

I use an MCU Pro. Basic volume automation works great. Plug-in editing is increasingly problematic; MCU-controlled automation of third-party plug-ins has been broken for some time (my Tech Note on this issue dates from 2015), and with 9.5 automation of even MOTU plug-ins now appears to be broken. Moving knobs on the MCU edits the on-screen plug-in parameters, but the resulting automation data doesn't play back reliably, and the MCU does not show updated values while moving knobs. Is anyone successfully using a control surface with 9.5 to edit plug-in parameters?

It seems the MCU has ben orphaned by MOTU to me.

Huh? The HUI and Mackie Control are both in the list of supported control surfaces in DP's set-up menu. Also, the construction would have been less confusing if you had typed, "It seems TO ME the MCU has been orphaned by MOTU." Which I still don't understand.

The least expensive, most reliable motorized-fader control surface is the Icon Platform-M. I checked out, auditioned, bought and returned (or bought and sold) everything from the Raven on down to the Korg (no motors killed that one), and the Icon works, fits between your displays and the edge of the desk, is well-built and costs a pittance.

I had problems some time back in DP 6 and 7 getting DP to consistently recognize things emulating MCU, but DP 8 and 9 have been fine.
