Name this tune?

This melody has been driving me crazy for the past few days. I should know it, but it escapes me. Can anyone identify it? Sorry for the accidentals; it's probably in D the way I've played it.

It's almost Bolero by Ravel. Not quite. It could also be Memories from Cats which "borrows" Bolero.

It's an old standard maybe from the '20s or '30s. It's in G from this transcription.

I'm sending to a singer friend of mine with a vast repertoire and post on Facebook.

In my head, I think I hear Les Paul and Mary Ford doing it.

More later...(hopefully!)

It's definitely neither of those. I want to say it's a jazz standard or a show tune song.

That's what's in my head. Just can't put a name or lyric to it. Thanks for passing it on to your friend.

BINGO! Les Paul and Mary Ford did it, a little differently than the version in my head.
Whispering.

This is closer to what I was hearing, although Les and Mary's version is fun.

Yes. I knew I heard the style of Les Paul. Wouldn't have thought of Chet!
