BTW - The one for "MOTU Pro Audio" (AVB and its recent relatives) is new for both Mac and PC, but the MOTU Audio Installer (for 828 mk3 hybrid and its cousins and
most older models)
has been updated for Mac only at this time.
Hovering over the Mac icon in the Downloads page for the MOTU Audio installer reveals the correct date for that installer.

thanks for clarification on :
MOTU Audio Installer (for 828 mk3 hybrid and its cousins and most older models) has been updated for Mac only at this time.
Hovering over the Mac icon in the Downloads page for the MOTU Audio installer reveals the correct date for that installer
suppose the update is mainly for Sierra compatibility.

There was a time - for what seems now like several years - when my MOTU audio hardware and drivers were one of the few things I DIDN'T need to worry about or question. My 828s just worked.
I don't know what's happening these days. (Likely Apple messing about with the system? Older equipment going wonky?) But my audio hardware, drivers, settings are requiring active intervention almost weekly now. Random drop outs, weird performance issues, you name it.
There was no "dividing line", no one install after which things got wonky. Just a slow accretion of dysfunction.
I'm actually afraid to install the new drivers for fear that I will trade this imperfect mess for something worse.

My MacBook Pro started crashing when going to sleep after I updated the Audio Driver!
828mk3 FW, macOS Sierra...
