Just a note to my friends here at MOTUNation

I haven't been around much lately, and if anyone has needed my help for anything, I apologize for not being able to do so. I know that several PM's have either gone unanswered or briefly answered after delays.

I've been out of town a lot. Family health stuff. My presence has been needed elsewhere more than here, so I've been gone. I have my iPad, but not much time to use it. It appears for the foreseeable future, this will continue.

Nevertheless, this forum is not lacking in any way for solid answers to practically any question. I'd say I'm not missed at all, at least as far as answers are concerned. Just reading over the posts in my few days between trips, I'm amazed at the fantastic answers to the posts. This forum has some prodigal talents! I'd single everyone out, but I'd almost certainly stick my foot in that. So many great people here. I WILL go out on a limb for one, because he hasn't been here as long as others, and I think that Robert Randolph is offering transformative levels of help these days. Man, it's exciting to see new people come here and take this seriously — and get it right!

As always, the management of the forum is evident in the results: we have a self-regulating forum (mostly) which stays out of the majority of conflicts by respecting the two rules whose violation will bring crashing down upon the offenders the draconian will of the dude at the top: James Steele! Respect those rules, however, and he remains like a pussycat. A rock-n-roll pussycat in spiky metal boots and leather collar, that is, as well as a seasonal Santa Frickin' Claus.

Ok, I'm outa here again. See y'all in a few weeks. Maybe in time for Thanksgiving. Have a scary Halloween! [Remember: just the rolls of paper; no eggs, ok?]

PS: Will someone get this Sierra / DP 9.1x stuff straightened out before I get back to work? Really. I mean it. That's not what I want to come back to! You Cambridge (Boston) guys: this is the time where you all say "let's fix EVERYTHING!" You've got the greatest user base in the DAW world. Use us to help you find and fix all these niggling little annoyances that add up to production problems. We'll toast you come Thanksgiving and New Year. In fact, I'll make a deal with you. You fix it by New Year, and I'll buy you a round at the NAMM dinner. Which means I'll have to fly out to do that. Think we can shake virtual hands on that? Then why are you still reading this? Get back to work!

I truly sympathize. I was knocked out of the loop from last November till March due to family health issues. They can be remarkably time-consuming!

Like MLC and Phil say (and I know everyone agrees), we'll be here waiting for you!

All the best... and I have to agree that this forum has become part of my life.

The help and information I've gained from MOTUNation has saved my career at times, has made me a better musician/producer/recording musician, has helped to save me money by knowing what gear to check out or not check out, and the knowledge about MAC computers has enabled me to help out other people very comfortably... (like keeping my wife happy, which is important!)

I tell my non-music friends to check this forum out if they just want to know how to keep their MAC's alive and healthy!

Keep rockin'... James and everyone!

Just remember that you have no obligation to any of us. It's just a forum for some software.

We'll be here when you're done with important things, still thankful for all your efforts.

Oh, I'll be around. Just not digging-in in my usual way. I do at least try to lurk even when I can't respond.

But more importantly: Thanks! I really appreciate that, and the warm wishes from everyone. As Mike said... "Happy Trails!" I try to remember Leonard Slye's positive attitude through adversity. He was the best Roy Rogers there could be!

Good fortune in your family health journey (unless that wish isn't appropriate in this situation).

Unfortunately, these are situations that will probably end terminally. I guess all do eventually, but these sooner than most. But don't worry; it's the thought that counts.

We haven't given up, for there may be a sliver of hope remaining, but it's pretty serious. My role is taking care of someone, cooking, doing errands, taking them to appointments, sitting with them through 12 hour chemotherapy days, keeping them comfortable, translating doctor-speak, being good company no matter what happens. I take it seriously, and appreciate the support.

Thanks to all,
Shoosh

Been there. In the case of both my parents, "good fortune" was interpreted as a swift and easy passing.
