Motu Traveler sudden problems with Win8

Hello all,

I have been running my Traveler (version 1) without issue for years.

Currently on Windows 8 for some time.

Suddenly my main outs are not working. When i go to Control Panel >> Sound and click on properties and then Supported Formats i no longer have any options under "Sample Rate" (i used to be able to click 44 or 48 and do a 'test').

If i switch the default device to Motu Phones, it works (on the phones).

I uninstalled the drivers, re-installed and restarted. Still nothing.

Any suggestions MUCH appreciated!!!

Update:

When i run a mic into the inputs it comes out of the monitors.

Looks like windows just isn't passing computer-based audio out to it?

Removed Asio4All.

Removed MOTU drivers. Rebooted. Installed latest drivers. Rebooted.

Still same problem.

I can play audio from my computer files (like mp3s, etc) but Youtube audio not coming thru.

When i set default device to MOTU headphones i can hear youtube audio.

Do you have the MOTU Audio Console installed?

It sounds like you ended up with the Traveler set to a high sample rate that YouTube cannot play through or something. That can be adjusted using the MOTU Audio Console.

Here is the download site for the MOTU Audio Installer: http://motu.com/download

This version is stated to support all versions of the Traveler.

I hope that is helpful - I definitely have felt that sinking feeling of having the interface not work.

Hi Terry,

thanks a lot for the suggestion. I do have the console installed. Tried changing between 41 and 48 but didn't do the trick unfortunately.

Whoa, hang on! Just went back in there, changed format to 44.1 and clicked the two boxes for 'stereo pairs' and 'wave RT' to turn them on and its working now!!!

Yahooo!!! Thanks a lot for your help, Terry!!!! You ROCK!!!!

Sometimes, I have found just using the Windows Audio control panel and changing the offending device's sample rate to a different setting and back again also fixes it. Seems to be a system hangup.

Glad you have it worked out! :D

Man i've been playing around with these settings for a month. I think it was checking those boxes (stereo pairs and wave RT) that did it. But hell if i know for sure!!! Hope this post helps others as much as it did me!

Thanks again Terry
