Anyone planning to bite on the iPhone 7 or 7+ ?

besides me?

My family had skipped the 6/6s so no one's had a new phone in 3 years.

I have wanted a camera with automatic image stabilization—operating the camera isn't so bad one-handed but getting a steady shot is extremely difficult and the zoom impossible. Although the SE is the 6s+ in a smaller form than my 5s and can do most of what I need, I waited till the announcement before deciding. Gonna give the 128G 7+ a try.

Belden has announced a gadget that will make 'can't charge while listening' a non-issue.

My wife and daughter each want the SE so that will be a little easier on the budget. My wife has never owned a smart phone before and one daughter just started at UOP 100 miles away—the other with her Apple engineer husband just moved to Austin. Oh dear... :shake:

No, still too big, like a small cutting board. I was waiting to see whether there would be a 7- as well as the 7+. I might have to settle for the SE to replace a 4S.

They lost me by taking out the headphone jack and forcing me to use a dongle adapter, or bluetooth earbuds. The 6 had made such strides in the audio dept. and now pretty much all that is thrown away, it seems.

For just a camera and a phone with apps, it is likely fun. I have too many good IEM's to ignore the loss of the headphone jack, though.

Nope. Sometimes I use my iPhone for preshow music and for synth apps and sound effects (in conjunction with an iPad and a music keyboard. No jack to connect to my board? NO SOUP FOR YOU, APPLE!

The 5s was a huge improvement over my 4s and the SE is pretty impressive. It still uses a two-finger pinch motion to zoom—impossible while holding it with the same hand. Seeing that I could do the same with just my thumb on the 7 sealed the deal for me.

I don't like the dongle but will get over it. Apple clearly has. We survived the loss of serial ports, ADB, FireWire without a dongle...

I may hate the large size but I'd like to get into photography again and DSLRs are too cumbersome. I really want the dual camera in the smaller size but that's not an option unless I go back to Android—been there and hated it. We'll see...

Still happy with my 6. Besides, if I bit the phone, it might scratch the case.

This is different than eliminating a SCSI or FW port, IMO. The iPhone is touted as a media player as well as communication device. That's also how I use it. Like Finale dumping movie scoring as a feature, the loss of an output jack on my phone is a deal breaker. Period. If I have to job out my media needs to a different device I won't be so ending the $$$ on a dumbed down iPhone.

The headphone jacks in the iPad Air are pretty bad. I'm hoping that the dongle and the Belkin adapter solve a few problems with mine.

I'm planning to upgrade my iPhone 6 to an iPhone 6S.
I prefer having a dedicated headphone jack over the newer iPhone 7 design.
For me it will be primarily to have a newer phone with a fresh battery, more space(I will go from 64g to 128g)
For now I'm waiting a week or 2 to see if Verizon lowers the price on the the 6S.

No, the headphone jack is a deal breaker for me, I don't want or need more dongles, and I use the audio output frequently. I might grab a 6s though.

Should have already happened. Apple announced that the 6s line was the new mid range and that RAM was increasing with the new phones shipping on Sept. 14. The new prices hit Apple on Wednesday and AT&T yesterday. You should find that Verizon has already followed suit.

Although the SE and the 6s are identical in functionality, RAM on the SE is 16/64G while the 6s is now 32/128G. List on the 6s is now $549/$649 with the SE being $399/$499. The other difference is a 4.7" screen vs the 4" screen on the SE. The cameras are identical.

Well here Verizon is actually showing the 128gig 6S @ $850 and the 128 gig 7 @ $750 !
They also have a very aggressive promotion to get the 7 sold........
If I trade in the 6 and buy the 7, Verizon will give a $650 credit.
"savings will be credited to your account as recurring payments over 24 months beginning within 2-3 cycles. iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are eligible for promotional value of $650."

https://www.verizonwireless.com/smartph ... -iphone-7/

When I checked the trade in for the 6 towards the 6S 2 weeks ago the trade value was $300.....

So now I'm leaning towards getting the 7, dealing with the adaptor for my current headphones and or eventually I will get some Bluetooth headphones......... The lower price combined w/ the promotion plus the iPhone 7's other new features just might make me reconsider the 6S purchase...........

I don't understand the lack of an audio jack being a deal breaker. Are the specs different using lightening on the 7? Or the same as 6? 6s? If same or better on the 7 and you like the other features (water resistance, camera for examples) what's with a dongle? At $9 buy as many as you need to cover all your phones, audio connectors, etc. I was hit much, much harder when Apple abandoned the 30 pin connector/charger. Switching to lightening added a lot to my iPhone 6 cos with the various adapters I use. My only question regarding the one for all design is can you charge and listen simultaneously with wired head phones? Some sort of dock?

There's a Y connector of sorts.
