When are we going to get that release of DP with the new SMPTE plug, I NEED that now. Not to mention the other features boasted about, the processing load etc.? In the DP9 press release all these things were promoted, and it specifically said 2nd qtr 2016, that would have been last month, no? Yet still no mention of it?

Well, it's here in 9.1:
SMPTE-Z plug-in — The SMPTE-Z plug-in generates Longitudinal Time Code (LTC) while locked to DP’s timeline or while running independently in Freewheel mode. The Stillframe option causes time code to continue to be generated even when DP’s transport is stopped (parked on one frame). Time code can be routed anywhere via the audio track’s output assignment, allowing for accurate time code sync in a wide variety of situations.

No. It's in DP 9.1 released today.

Download it from MOTU and run the installer. That should be all you need to do. A few reported a hang on installation that was fixed by rebooting before running the installer again. No need to remove the older build nor trash preferences.

Also, note it only works with a mono track.

SMPTE - Z so far so good seems to be PERFECT!

No issues with Download and Install here.

posted this over in the "9.1 is here" thread

DP 9.1 - HOLY ISH! MOTU killing all other NATIVE DAWS

My first real world test is a mix on a pretty big pop song session and my initial impressions are OMG UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I'm running OS 10.8.5 on a Mac Pro 8 Core (2 x 2.4Ghz Quad Core) Intel Xeon system with 28 GB 1056 mHz DDR3 RAM. OS and Apps running off a Western Digital 7200 RPM drive, and DP Projects running off a second Western Digital 10,000 RPM drive. Dual 1600 x 900 Acer monitors running on ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB. MOTU 2408 MKIII 24 channels ADAT i/o to Tascam DM 4800 mixer. UAD-2 DUO PCI and UAD-2 Satellite FW 800.

Now for the AMAZING session deets! 12 Stereo busses, 88 tracks of audio, 48kHz 24bit, running a buffer setting of 128 SERIOUSLY. Automation of volume, pan, and buss sends on nearly every track, as well as some plug in automation. Speaking of plug ins... here's the list of Native plugs instances (all plugs running AU format)...

- MOTU -
01 - Delay
08 - Para EQ2
01 - Echo
05 - Trim
01 - MstrWks EQ

- WAVES -
07 - L3 LL Multi
10 - Ren Compressor
03 - C1 Gate

- IZOTOPE -
01 - Ozone 7 Imager

- NATIVE INSTRUMENTS -
03 - Transient Designer

Now for the UAD plugs...
02 - Dreamverb
14 - Cambridge EQ
02 - RS1 Reverb
11 - Legacy 1176LN Compressor
13 - Legacy Pulteq Pro EQ
07 - Legacy LA-2A Compressor
02 - Lexicon 224 Reverb
01 - Legacy Fairchild

THE RESULT? NO GLITCHES! Processor Meter running about 50% with spikes up to 75%, absolutely ZERO overload processor spikes, previous to 9.1 this session would spike overload with a 512 buffer simply on playback. I'm now instantly jumping around the session at a 128 Buffer with no issues!

I've yet to test complex editing / recording at this buffer, but I'm really impressed so far!

It would be great if it could also chase timecode, instead of just generate it.
