Mac Mini 2014 and 828 mk2

I just acquired a 2014 Mac Mini (El Capitan) and I was wondering if I should even attempt to use it with my old, but excellent 828mk2?
If yes, which TB/FW adapter works best?
If no, which newer MOTU interface should I look into?

I believe MOTU has advised that the Apple TB>FW adaptor works. You should be able to use without any problems.
