10.11.1 doesn't resolve the issue with Chrome browser not displaying properly on my USB monitor. This started Saturday so it's Google that screwed this up. It was working fine with the DisplayLink Drivers 2.4 till then. I tried the 2.5 Beta 2 drivers – no change.

Safari and FireFox display properly but both suck in so many other ways, FireFox a little less than Safari today. This changes.

Word/Excel 2008 still opens a little slower than in OS 10.9-10.10 but nowhere as slowly as they did in OS 10.5-10.8. I'm still successfully avoiding Office 2016 or going back to Office 2011.

None of the other issues affected me so I have not noticed a difference.

Going to update my sig in a few minutes. On 10.11.1 now and honestly I can't tell a lot of difference. Mostly everything seems to be working hardware-wise with the MOTU FW drivers and my Traveler MkI. All plugs validate in DP and MainStage, INCLUDING NI plugs. Notable exception, all Melda plugs failed validation in MainStage but are okay in DP and GarageBand (go figure-warrants further investigation.)

Aside, Apple music generates an error every time in iTune 12.3.1.23. No big loss to me, but frustration nonetheless.

My biggest impression involves the new system font which I like on my 1080 display, and the spinning beach ball is a new set of shades of pastel.

All AUs and VSTs in DSP Quattro validate. MainStage still seems to be the holdout. Don't have Logic. Logic users chime in?

The big one for me will be to see if the Alpha Track USB driver will work if SIP is disabled. I've been meaning test this on separate partition. Hopefully I can do that soon. When I tried to run the Alpha Track installer under El Cap, it returned an error.

MainStage 3.2.2 is out today and it still will not validate Melda Plugs.

I re-ran the Melda 9.12 installers, re-scanned, and everything validates.

Just an update. I did a clean install of El Cap (10.11.1) on a test partition and after much hair pulling, it seems I figured out a process to get AlphaTrack working—at least as you can see from the graphic below, it is now recognized. The installer doesn't work, it involves manually copying components to the proper location, as well as a special way to install the FrontierDesignAlphaTrack.kext file.

I did disable SIP prior to working out this procedure. I'm not sure it is necessary. I'm going to try to repeat this with SIP enabled. If that doesn't work, with any luck SIP can be re-enabled AFTER successful install. I hope to follow up with specific instructions soon.

EDIT: I should hasten to add that I have not yet confirmed that it will work with DP 9.01 and the 64-bit control surface bundle, but I'm very optimistic.

Well, I'm all up and running with DP 9.01 on OS X 10.11.1 and my AlphaTrack is working fine. So are all my plugs including older plugs dependent on 32 Lives... with the exception of PlugSound Pro. Seems like that one is toast and I don't think I can save it, but the library will load in UVI Workstation and Mach Five 3, so I'm fine.

Anyone using Izotope RX4? Does it work in 10.11.1?
Heard some reports that it still has issues in FCPX (where I really need it, but would be nice also in DP and Logic)

After reading a fair number of positive reports regarding 10.11.1, I decided to upgrade to El Capitan. With the exception of Finale 2014, all audio & video programs and plug-ins that I use are working as intended. As others are experiencing, things seem to be a bit "snappier" for my two computers.

I don't use Finale 2014 that much except to create blank orchestral and rock band scoring templets. (I still put pencil to blank manuscript paper for my more involved music compositions.) However, Make Music said that they hope to have an update to Finale 2014, "soon", so that it functions as intended with El Capitan.

Life is good. . .

(James Steele . . . Glad to read that you got your Alpha Track working.)

No issues in DP. Authorized fine in Logic. I don't use FCPX.

The stand-alone version of RX 4 Advanced froze the first time when I tried to quit. Afterwards, it was fine.

Interestingly, RX 3A behaved. Hmmmm... I was surprised to see I still had RX 3A installed.

I'll be upgrading to 5A in the next few days. No issues in Demo mode for me.

Through 10/28/2015, Izotope has a sale on upgrades to RX 5. AudioDeluxe has it for $87.95; $253.99 for Advanced owners to Advanced (or for new users to Standard), $423.99 for Standard to Advanced.

Coupon: AUGSAVE

Sweetwater seems to be unaware that the sale is continuing. They had the same prices as Izotope last week. The non-sale prices are on the web today. I have emailed my rep to see if there's something he can do.
