That's where I am, too. I came close to installing on my studio MacPro5,1, but I have a MTP/AV (with an even older MTP daisy-chained off it via the serial port). Still, it's rare that I fire up any of my hardware modules. I almost do it as a novelty to see if they still work, or when I absolutely, positively MUST have "Miami Brass" from my Ensoniq EPS16+ module. :) How I still love that old hunk of metal... even have a SCSI drive attached to the back of it. :)

Anyway... If I get impatient, I may just still give it a whirl. I likely won't need to use any of my hardware modules before MOTU has a driver update out.

I had some samples of that on my K2K and lost them. Have you seen samples from this unit for sale anywhere? I'd love to get that sound back.

Weird. I had to go back and look at your setup. Perhaps that's something with MacBooks then? I run two older style DVI cinema displays: a 30 inch and a 24 inch on my MacPro 5.1. Doesn't sound like this affects tower style Macs.
Yes James, it was the MTP AV. Once I switched to MIDI on the 8pre - no problems.

I managed to get some of my EPS16+ sounds ported over to MachFive with the aid of Chicken Systems translator years ago. Miami Brass was one that just wouldn't work. A lot of it has to do with that it relied heavily on internal effects of the EPS16+. I used to be able to extract the raw samples using a very old app called EPSm, but I don't even know if I can do that any more. Not sure how I did last time. You have to have a Mac that has a SCSI port and come to think of it, I just now realized why I shouldn't have recycled my old G4s. I think that's how I did it. Ugh. :(

I had the same issue with some K2K and Proteus sounds; too much dependence on internal effects. I used Redmatica and made sets of EXS24 patches that MachFive can read and use with keyswitching. The sample sets are huge to capture the variations and evolution of the sounds, but that's not really a problem using MachFive for playback.

My experience (with 2 Micro expresses) was Audio MIDI setup worked ok for audio, but when trying to open the MIDI window would try for 5 minutes (I timed it) then tell me the MIDI server wasn't communicating.

The beta 1 driver release alleviated this, but now Audio MIDI setup shows I have 48 Micro expresses, and they still don't work with Ableton Live. I see that the beta 2 release is out but I won't be able to try it until Monday.

My MOTU FastLane USB is working fine with the new MOTU USB (beta2 release) software under OS 10.11. No Audio MIDI Setup crash.

Still no Micro express love with beta 2. Audio MIDI setup does not see them, for me at least.
