Microbook ii inputs... And more

Hi, I hope someone has the time to answer my ignorant questions.
Firstly I'm wondering what happens when you plug 1/4" inputs into 3 and 4 as well as the mini jack, does one set take priority or does some magical summing take place?
Also I'm wondering how easy it will be to balance up inputs 1 and 2 to use as a stereo pair. This is a very nooby question, sorry.
I've seen a thread casting aspersions on compatibility with Yosemite, is anyone else having trouble? The posters on that thread never reported back.
I've also read that since firmware 1.4 the unit can operate in standalone mode without a computer retaining all the last used dsp settings, is this correct?
