Drop a published song's bridge down a 4th? Clearance Issue?

I'm working on some arrangements for a producer and her client and on one song (probably because of the client's vocal range comfort) they want to drop the bridge only down a 4th and then get back to the actual selected key.

I'll have to admit it's "cute" and surprisingly works, but would this be allowed under a standard Mechanical License?

Merci...

Buzzy

I don't think there's any issue with the key(s) if the license is paid. I think covers expect to have arrangements done.

Thanks, MLC. I was wondering as this change definitely affects the harmonic relationship between the bridge and verses. Not to mention that the bridge melody is now down a 4th from where originally written.

I really doubt there's any issue there. Maybe Holler'n Mike can jump in.

As long as the copyright still belongs to the original songwriters and publisher i. e. you are not claiming a piece of it for your arrangement, you're good.

Providing the dough for the do-re-mi is paid and properly licensed, of course.

Cool. This will be done all neat and proper. They are not claiming anything.
